Why giving back is good for business

This time of year, we tend to get so wrapped up in deals and discounts that we overlook the need to give and those who need our help most. The truth is: giving back is good for business in so many ways.

Giving back to charities helps

  • boost employee morale

  • it’s good for your community

  • it’s tax deductible

  • it elevates your marketing

  • it motivates others to do good too

The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is always a very special day for giving because it’s Giving Tuesday.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community. I’m proud to be a giving partner for The Children’s Legacy Partnership. Each year, on Giving Tuesday, I donate a portion of the proceeds from my online course, Brand in Bloom, to The Children's Legacy Partnership. I also give all of the money from Small Town Social t-shirt sales to The Children's Legacy Partnership. Their mission is to help break the cycle of poverty for children and families by supporting education and career opportunities in communities throughout the U.S. and developing countries. My mission is to help others bloom. Not just us business owners and entrepreneurs but those who are less fortunate in life.

Today and every day, I hope you find it in your heart to give in some way. That can be a donation of your time, your energy, your attention - not just your money. That can be a share, a Like, a Follow or a Subscribe. An event you host, a new fundraising initiative in your store or on your website. There are MANY ways to give back with your business and doing so will help it thrive.

As we move out of 2019 and into 2020, my hope is that business owners focus less on the get and more on the give.

The key to growth is helping others grow.

In your business, how can you give back? How are you truly helping the world and giving back to your community or others in need?

If you’re looking for inspiration on how to put the FUN in fundraising, read this because, honestly, it is fun to give back, it is fun to lift others up, and it is fun to help.

So, how do you?
