3 simple MUST-DO website tweaks for restaurants affected by COVID-19

It's time to rally, friends. NC bars and restaurants just got the order to halt all dine-in ability due to COVID-19 until further notice. Here are the 3 simple steps you should take for your website and social media platforms right now. This video shows the walk through of what I'm doing for my clients in the food industry to help you do the same but it applies to many different business styles across the board:

Simple website tweaks your business should make ASAP for COVID-19:

  1. Clickable full page site pop up with only the specifics / plan of action.

  2. Clickable top level announcement bar with only the specifics

  3. Unique landing page that outlines full announcement from whoever runs the joint. You will link to this in both your pop up and announcement bar. Focus on short, concise and clear copy to get the message across as quickly as possible to your customers / visitors. You're writing for readability right now - justify left, sans font like Helvetica or Open Sans, atleast 12pt. You don't need to get cute. You're aiming for CLARITY.

Additionally, you should create a graphic or two on CANVA.com or post a photo and share your announcement across your social media platforms and to your email list.

Consistency and clarity is everything right now with what's going on. You don't need to explain your minute by minute updates, just the essentials to keep your visitors up to speed.

Your staff should already be briefed.

If you are not doing take-out or curbside orders, I recommend you still post an announcement about your plan of action on your website, whatever it is, and social media channels. This is NOT a time to ghost on your customers because you're stressed and overwhelmed. Stay strong and show up for them. Keep showing up for them.

And, friends, please don't give up on small businesses. There are ways you can still support.

  • Buy gift cards that you and your friends can use later

  • Shop in their online stores, if possible

  • Post positive Google and Facebook reviews

  • Follow and support them on social media

  • Send happy messages (and thoughts!)

Thank you lisiiItalian.com for being my example here - love you guys. Hang in there!
